ESEMKA Could Exist if There Are Investors

Mass production of Esemka cars that are assembled by secondary vocational school students would depend on the investors who endorse them. There are numbers of things to be improved from the product side.

Esemka Cars
This is mentioned by the Chairman of the Joint General Industrial Equipment and Motor Cars, Hadi Surjadipradja, in Jakarta. He said, currently there have been national cars produced in Rangkasbitung, Banten factory. The cars are AG-Tawon sponsored by PT Super Hornet Gasindo Jaya.

He reminded that these students from SMKN 2 Solo, SMKN 5 Solo, and SMK Warga Solo, still need to learn a lot. According to him, these students are still lack of experience in industry. Moreover, he added, there are still many things to consider in car production, not only the rules from the Ministry of Industry. Such as the roadworthy requirements, the standard should be the same as the international brand.

"The roadworthy requirements are needed because it related to the safety issues. There shouldn’t be discrimination just because it is produced by high school students, so the certificate of roadworthy requirements isn’t approved," added Hadi.

"It depends on who the investors will be, because the students will keep on changing. As example is the Tawon or Gea production, they already have investors. The progress depends on how aggressive they are," he said.

As being informed by the news, the students from SMKN 2 Solo, SMKN 5 Solo, and SMK Warga Solo, accompanied by Kiat Motor, Klaten, managed to assemble a car that is given a brand name, ESEMKA. These cars have 80 percent of the local content and have been used by Solo Mayor, Joko Widodo, and Deputy Mayor, FX Hadi Rudyatmo.
