Is Mesuji Oil Company Owned by Malaysian?

Chairman of the Joint Fact Finding Team (TGPF – Tim Gabungan Pencari Fakta) for Mesuji Case, Denny Indrayana, said they are not sure yet whether the palm oil companies related to Mesuji events in Lampung and South Sumatra are Malaysian-owned company.

Therefore, the Fact Finding Team will double check the ownership of the company's stock. The companies that would be investigated are PT Barat Selatan Makmur Investindo (BSMI), PT Inhutani Silva, and PT Sumber Wangi Alam (PT SWA).

"I can’t say anything yet. I'll check the companies listed in the Directorate General of General Law Administration. We will also get the data from the police, forestry department, and National Committee of Human Rights (Komnas HAM – Komite Nasional Hak Azasi Manusia) who the shareholders of that company," Denny said after a meeting with the Joint Fact Finding Team on Pengayoman Building, in the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights Office, Jakarta (17/12/2011).

In addition, he said, Fact Finding Team also will recheck the business license of the palm oil companies owners who have problems with people in Mesuji.

"All the important and relevant data related to the information (business license / Hak Guna Usaha (HGU)) , we will certainly ask for it," he said.

As reported, there are rumors that the companies that have control in Indonesia palm oil plantations are privately owned by Malaysian companies, including PT BSMI who had conflicted with Mesuji residents in Lampung, November 2011, killing one resident and six another residents were shot by Brimob.
